The article poses the thesis that boredom is main driving force of consumer capitalist system. Through a sequence social and cultural shifts freeloading on natural human predispositions, system has manufactured new type being, homo consumens, who socialized to be passive, desire- dream-driven, addicted novelty, constant change, ceaseless stream stimuli, pleasure. Boredom enables smooth functioning such Bored consumers buy more are led by desires promise alleviate their boredom. Consumer capitalism devoted fighting very it actively produces, amplifies, or invites in socialization. entire entertainment/culture industry is, fact, industry, whose institutions preoccupied with mitigating consumers’ situational boredom, but—at same time—push this light into subliminal realm, where time accumulate takes root unnoticed, becoming mood capitalism.
